The Museu do Índio is an institution dedicated to the documentation, preservation and promotion of Brazilian cultural indigenous heritage in its entire diversity and contemporaneity. Its collection includes nearly 18 thousand ethnographic pieces and its permanent exhibition employs modern museographic resources to present different forms of expression and knowledge of Brazilian indigenous societies with whom the museum works in direct partnership. Through its work the museum hopes to contribute to the promotion of these groups’ human rights and quality of life.
