The Instituto Moreira Salles is a unique institution in Brazil’s cultural scenery. Situated in the 50’s modernist family home of Brazilian Tycoon’s (banker Moreira Salles) and surrounded by a garden projected by Burle Marx at the foot of the Gávea hill, the institute owns the most important photography collection in the country (some of the most important images of 19C Rio) as well as important collections in music, literature and iconography.
